Elgin teacher still hospitalized
An Elgin High School teacher was listed in stable condition Saturday at the University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago after being stabbed by a male 16-year-old student.
Carolyn Gilbert, 50, suffered multiple knife wounds Friday morning.
The teenager has been charged with aggravated battery with a weapon and aggravated battery to a teacher.
He will appear in Cook County Court Tuesday. The teacher was alone with the student when the stabbing occurred. She was originally taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin for treatment.
