Briefs: 'Mulan' comes to Arcada
Rising Star Theatreworks of Geneva will present Disney's "Mulan" Jan. 26 and 27 at the Arcada Theater, 105 E. Main St., St. Charles. The production includes a cast of more than 50 young people. Chilly golf on tap
Orchard Valley Golf Course, 2411 W. Illinois Ave. in Aurora, will conduct its first Chili Bowl golf event at noon Jan. 27. The nine-hole event is $30 per person and includes greens fee, chili, beer and door prizes. Sign up at the pro shop. Hastert tribute dinner
Former Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert will be the guest speaker at a tribute in his honor at 6 p.m. Jan. 31 at Gaslite Manor, 2485 Church Road, Aurora. The event, hosted by the Aurora Township Republican Central Committee, is part of the 51st annual Lincoln Day Dinner. Hastert, who recently retired from the 14th Congressional District, was a U.S. representative for more than 20 years. Tickets are $65 each. Charlemagne Awards set
The St. Charles Chamber of Commerce's 86th annual Charlemagne Awards Dinner is scheduled for Feb. 1 at Pheasant Run Resort, 4051 E. Main St. Tickets are $50. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and includes cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, dinner, music and dancing. The chamber will present several awards, including the Charlemagne lifetime achievement award.
