Ryan Nobel entry violates award rules

In the story titled, "Ryan's prison address would bar trip to accept Nobel Prize" (Jan 12), University of Illinois College of Law Professor Francis A. Boyle is acting just like convicted former Illinois Governor George Ryan by "violating the rules"…just like Ryan did while in office.

Boyle, as a Nobel Foundation nominator, "violated the rules" of the statutes of the Nobel Foundation by publicly announcing Ryan's nomination. Nobel Foundation statutes state nominators are...

"strongly requested not to publish their proposal." Boyle again ignored the rules, as he has done for the last four years. The Nobel Foundation does not even publish the names of candidates.

So Boyle, like Ryan, feels that rules and statutes only apply to other people, and not them. The Nobel Foundation should either delete Boyle's e-mail nomination or stamp "return to sender" when it comes in the mail this year.
