Don't gamble on value of your home
Have you heard about the latest gambling idea in Naperville? The wager is to gamble the value of your home to save a pittance in property taxes!
The opposition to District 203's Feb. 5 referendum wants you to vote "no" to investing $82 per year for a $335,000 home on the major reparation of Naperville Central's physical building. Is this savings worth the risk to the property value of your home?
Your property value correlates directly to the reputation of District 203. If your property value decreases by less than 1 percent due to the perception of a weakening school district's infrastructure, you lose far more than the $82 per year tax increase.
After touring District 203's facilities and carefully listening to both sides of this issue, we believe Naperville Central desperately needs to be repaired. For the record, we live within the Naperville North attendance boundaries.
Be wary of 2002 referendum "right fighters" trying to convince you to vote "no." The 2002 referendum is water under the bridge; don't let your property values flow downstream based on old arguments. Messing with the success of District 203 is a risky financial proposition to homeowners.
Don't gamble with your property value. Vote "yes" Feb. 5.
