AARP offering driver safety course

Henry Karolus will offer an AARP Drivers Safety Program class from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the West Dundee Safety Center, 555 S. Eighth St. (Route 31). Participants must attend both days. The class is open to anyone age 50 and older. You do not need to be a member of AARP.

Upon completion of the course a certificate will be given that could mean a reduction in the liability portion of your auto insurance. To register, call (847) 426-4504. Cost is $10 due the first day with checks made out to AARP.

Montessori to hold open house Jan. 26

Children's House Montessori School will bold a public open house for parents wanting more information on Montessori education.

The open house will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 26 in the 3- to 6-year-old classroom at the Bethlehem Community Ministry Center, 417 W. Main St., West Dundee.

Parents can view the Montessori environment and learn how the individualized curriculum can help children learn to their full potential.

The school has been in Dundee Township since 1991 offering 3- to 6-year-old preschool including full-day kindergarten, and 6- to 9-year-old elementary programs. The school has certified Montessori-trained teachers in every classroom with one teacher for every 8 to 10 students and are affiliated members of The American Montessori Society. Dine and dance with your sweetheart at Barrington United Methodist Church's Valentine's Dinner Dance on Feb. 9. The Makray Country Club of Barrington will be the venue for this evening, which will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $40 per person or $80 per couple, which includes the D.J., full-course dinner and dessert.
