"Joseph" returns:ŒAmerican Eagle Productions' "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Cutting Hall, 150 E. Wood St.
Joseph and his brothers learn about loyalty and forgiveness in this popular musical. A lively blend of styles, from rock to country to calypso, makes for an entertaining and inspiring production.

Celebrate Mardi Gras: Celebrate Mardi Gras with the park district and Dennis Stroughmatt and Creole Stomp, taking place at 8 p.m. Feb. 1 at Cutting Hall, 150 E. Wood St.
Dennis Stroughmatt and Creole Stomp carry the tradition of Mississippi River Valley French Creole music to audiences of thousands.
Sample some of the delicious tastes of Louisiana, courtesy of Gumbo A Go Go, a new restaurant in downtown Palatine.

Parent and child date night: Dads and daughters or moms and sons can enjoy dancing and dining from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Feb. 7 at the Birchwood Recreation Center, 435 W. Illinois Ave. Wear red for this year's Valentine theme.
The event is for ages 3 to 12 with parent. Featured will be pizza, ice cream, photos, and dancing. Sponsors are Northwest Community Hospital, Whole Foods Market, Score! Educational Center, and Bank of Palatine.

2 Ball Competition:ŒJoin the Chicago Bulls and the Palatine Park District for the 2 Ball Competition, taking place Feb. 18 at the Community Center Gym, 250 E. Wood St. Sponsors are Northwest Community Hospital, Score! Educational Center, and the park district.
Participants will compete as a team of two for one minute, trying to score as many points as possible from eight designated spots on the court. Divisions will include boys, girls, and adult and child. Children ages 9 to 14 are eligible.
Preregistration is recommended, and registrants must have their own partner. Partners must be listed on the entry form. Rules and waiver forms will be sent to all registered participants one week prior to competition.
The online registration deadline is Feb. 11. Children must bring a birth certificate the day of the event. Day of event registration will be available at the Community Center only.

Military discounts: The Palatine Park District's Board of Park Commissioners has recently adopted a new policy of awarding discounts for park district residents who are active U.S. military personnel and their immediate families.
This policy will allow resident active military personnel, their spouses and their children to participate in two programs per registrant per season at a 50 percent discount. Additionally, they will be admitted to the Park District's swimming pools and recreation centers for 50 percent off daily admissions and golf at Palatine Hills Golf Course for the guest fee.
To obtain this discount, bring proof of active U.S. military status to the Community Center. U.S. military families will be issued park district identification cards which will enable them to receive services at the reduced rate.
