Strindberg revisited

The Hypocrites continue their all-classics season with director Sean Graney's adaptation of August Strindberg's "Miss Julie," the playwright's seminal drama bout power, class and sex detailing the shifting relationship between a nobleman's daughter and his manservant.

Dublin on Dearborn

Goodman Theatre artistic director Robert Falls reprises his Broadway production of Conor McPherson's Dublin-set "Shining City," about a recent widower who confides to his therapist that he is being haunted by the ghost of his dead wife.

Carnage at Court

Roman general Titus returns victorious with a dubious trophy in conquered queen Tamora, setting in motion a bloody spiral of revenge and retaliation in Shakespeare's most gruesome tragedy, "Titus Andronicus."

Artistic director Charles Newell adapts and directs Court Theatre's production, opening Saturday at 5535 S. Ellis Ave., Chicago. (773) 753-4472.

Caffeine Theatre presents the world premiere "Like the Moon Behind the Clouds," an adaptation of Italian poet Carla Vasio's journey along the Silk Road from Rome to Tokyo. The play opened this week at the Studio Theater in the Chicago Cultural Center, 77 E. Randolph St., Chicago. (312) 742-8497.
