Riverside-Brookfield @ Fenton

Riverside-Brookfield (9-6, 3-1) at Fenton (8-8, 3-1)

Tonight's Metro Suburban Conference showdown represents Round 2 of the three-game series. Riverside-Brookfield claimed the first meeting at home, 63-55, on Dec. 7. With the teams locked in a tie atop the standings, and with a final matchup to come Feb. 8 in Riverside, this game is critical if the Bison hope to claim the title. Fenton's riding a three-game winning streak as the Bison continue to ride leading scorers Gozie Umeadi, a fourth-year varsity member, and Damian Sieradzki. Fenton's recent success also can be traced to the contributions of others. Guard Billy Gratzl is developing into a consistent shooter while Darek Potuszynski is an ace defender. Expect to see him guarding Southern Illinois University-bound Chris Parrish at many points throughout tonight's game. Finally, Corey Tangen has brought ballhandling stability to the Bison offense. This game, though, will be won on the defensive end in a battle of pace. The Bulldogs and Parrish, a fourth-year starter who boasts two 30-point games this season, love to push the ball and shoot from the perimeter. Keep an eye on Dan Oswald, who scored 25 points in last week's MSC loss to Ridgewood, and sophomore Sean McGonagill, who missed the first meeting with an ankle injury.
