The real world isn't like a TV soap
I beg to differ with Paul Green ("New Year: Same old political bickering?" Jan 13). The ill will, intransigence, and insults traded between the governor and legislative leaders will not be forgotten.
Unfortunately what has happened in Springfield is not comparable to a TV soap opera. The drama has been real. Time, and a will to forgive and forget are required if a new page is to be turned.
This governor once again, attempts to pick the people's pocket with the "free rides for seniors" give away. We are not happy idiots. Everyone knows that nothing is free -- someone pays. We pay.
Perhaps the most reasonable hope for a change is that Patrick Fitzgerald will finish his work. Then the governor will have a full-time job staying out of jail. At which point someone else can run the governor's office.
