• Brian Silverstein, son of Al and Debbie Silverstein of Gurnee and a 2005 graduate of Warren Township High School, was named a November student of the month at Quincy University where he is a junior communication major.

Silverstein is editor-in-chief at the Falcon, a resident adviser at Padua Hall, a member of the men's tennis team, and can be heard every Tuesday on "The Press Box" on WQUB 90.3 FM. He is a member of the Lamda Pi Eta national communication honor society, and received the QU Emerging Leader Award in the spring of 2007. Silverstein also is a member of the St. Anthony of Padua fraternity and has traveled to New Orleans on two service outreach trips after Hurricane Katrina.

• Adam David of Lindenhurst graduated after the 2007 spring semester with a bachelor of business administration degree in actuarial science and finance from the College of Business and Public Administration at Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa.

• Kelli Ford of Lindenhurst, a freshman at Cornell College, Mount Vernon, Iowa, was awarded the Samuel Fellows scholarships in the amount of $17,500 from Cornell. Scholarship recipients are chosen on the basis of their demonstrated records of academic achievement and co-curricular involvement, potential for future success and evidence of personal character.

• Tracy Ann Motley of Antioch, an undergraduate student majoring in social welfare, was named to the dean's list for the May 2007 semester at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

• Adam Frank of Lake Villa was named to the summer 2007 semester dean's list at Kettering University in Flint, Mich., where he is pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.

• Beth Anne Lang of Grayslake was among the students who completed degree requirements in June and August 2007 at the Madison Center of Upper Iowa University in Fayette. She was awarded a bachelor of science degree in health services administration.

• Holly Bouma-Johnston, daughter of Dr. Stanley Bouma and Kathy Johnston of Grayslake, is participating in Coe College's music program this year in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She is a 2007 graduate of Warren Township High School.

• Mary Mattingly, daughter of Third Lake residents Phillip Mattingly and Marjorie Morrison, was named to the 2007 spring term dean's list at Ithaca College's School of Music in New York. To qualify, students must attain a minimum grade point average of 3.7 and complete a minimum of 15 credit hours.

• Anthony William Rediger of Gurnee received a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Iowa at the spring 2007 commencement ceremonies in May.

• Daniel Morales of Round Lake Beach was named to the spring dean's list in recognition of outstanding academic achievement at Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights. To qualify, students must earn a minimum 3.5 grade point average.

• Mackie Van Camp of Lake Villa, was named to the 2006-07 dean's list at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis., for maintaining a minimum 3.4 grade point average. Van Camp, a 2005 graduate of the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, Aurora, is the daughter of Carl Van Camp, Lake Villa, and Lisa Van Camp, Lindenhurst.

• Columbia College in Missouri named the following students, along with their classes, to the dean's list for the 2007 summer session. To qualify, students must complete 12 semester hours and achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or greater on a 4.0 scale.
