Tigers season ticket sales heat up after acquisitions
The Detroit Tigers ignited so much interest with a blockbuster trade that that they might have to stop selling tickets. Tigers president and general manager Dave Dombrowski insisted that was a real possibility Monday night, wrapping up one of the final legs of the team's caravan. Dombrowski said the Tigers sold the equivalent of 19,500 season tickets last season, and since acquiring Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis from Florida last month, fans bought 4,500 season tickets. "There's phenomenal excitement. It's just outstanding, and it's almost hard for me to grasp," Dombrowski said before speaking to fans at Eastern Michigan University. "Our TigerFest sold out in a couple days. Our sponsorship gathering was the largest. Our season-ticket sales, it's almost hard for me to talk about how much we're selling."
