Laesch good choice in uncertain world
In these trying times, John Laesch, who is running for U.S. Congress in the 14th District, offers us hope.
As a former naval intelligence officer in the Middle East, he is empathetic to the sacrifices our troops are making. His brother has served in Iraq. Our soldiers and their families have paid the ultimate price in the Iraq war. John knows what our soldiers need now and the services they will need when they come home.
The majority of Americans want combat stopped in Iraq. With John's experience as a soldier and a civilian, he will work toward the common good.
Part of doing what is best for the common good is to improve our standing with other people in the world. We need to let other people in the world know that we want to work with them, not against them.
Laesch has experienced living in another culture as he grew up in Liberia while his parents were missionaries. Living in another culture expands one's perspective. My husband and I lived in Egypt from 1981 to 1983. We learned to appreciate the differences between the Egyptian culture and ours. No matter where one comes from, we need to get along with others in order to survive in this world.
I will vote for John Laesch on Feb. 5 because our country needs someone who knows what our soldiers are going through and someone who understands the importance of respect for others in the world.
