Election lets voters take America back

Red, blue, left, right, centrist or Libertarian, the message seems to be clear.

People are sick and tired of being sick and tired, and they are about to do something. Political infant Barack Obama and Rev. Huck (Mike Huckabee) appear on the verge of giving bloody noses to the establishments of both parties. Insurgent Ron Paul has appeared from the shadows as an Internet fund-raising wunderkind while a New York billionaire (Michael Bloomberg) seems poised to launch a third-party challenge.

Given the dangerous world in which we live where security and "the known" should have a lock, it seems counter-intuitive and perhaps even dangerous. That is exactly the message the establishments will be spinning. Can we afford such a deviation at this particular intersection of danger and uncertainty?

I submit the better question is can we afford not to? Both parties are obsessed with power but neither can behave like a minimally responsible teenager when it is obtained.

For decades, the American people have protected themselves by placing one party in charge of Congress and the other of the White House.

The time has come for the country to do what it has done before: Move boldly into the future with renewed dreams, compassionate ideals and steely resolve.

Our Founders did not leave their legacy for the benefit of bloated government agencies or greedy corporations. Our ancestors did not perish at Yorktown or Normandy, nor do our heroes today risk their lives in places like Falujah so party elites can appoint who they think should govern us.

This is our country and it is time to take it back.
