Aurora woman killed Saturday in 2-car crash near Geneva

An Aurora woman was killed in a two-car crash early today near Geneva, police said.

Ayesha Danley, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Department.

The driver of the other car, Francis G. Francisco, 33, of Aurora, was injured in the crash and taken to Delnor-Community Hospital, where he is listed in good condition, police reported. No one else was in either car.

The crash occurred in Geneva Township on the Kirk Road bridge between Route 38 and Cherry Lane near the Kane County Cougars Stadium. The road was closed to traffic for several hours.

Police reported that an initial investigation indicates that a 2003 Nissan Altima driven by Francisco was traveling south on Kirk Road and crossed over the center median about 7:40 a.m., striking a northbound 2008 Toyota Corolla driven by Danley, the press release said.

Francisco was ticketed for going too fast for conditions, police reported in a press release.

Investigators had not been able to interview Francisco as of Saturday afternoon, according to sheriff's Lt. Pat Gengler.

He said slippery pavement due to weather conditions may have been a contributing factor.

Police continue to investigate the cause.
