Save-A-Pet Adoption Center notes

Save-A-Pet Adoption Center, 31664 N. Fairfield Road, Grayslake, has dogs and cats available for adoption to approved homes. For details, call (847) 740-7788 or visit the Web site at www.save-a-pet-il.org. If you are interested in fostering, call the shelter at ext. 143.

Meet Lancelot.

Lancelot was discovered walking the streets by one of Save-A-Pet's volunteers. Somehow, Lancelot sensed this was his guardian angel and a chance to a real life. He has pronounced arthritis and was put on medication for it. He still enjoys leisure walks and gentle petting. He should not live in a home with small kids as they may not understand how to pet him. He would prefer a home as an only dog. Lancelot is about 10 years old and is looking for an adoptive home or a permanent foster home.

These pets are also looking for homes.

Kilbane turns into a big wet noodle when you pick him up and all he does is rub against your chin and lay his head on your shoulder. This diabetic 9-year-old four-paw declawed guy is a brown tabby guy that was found as a stray.

As soon as you pick Gryffindor up, his purr gets in gear and doesn't stop. This 1-year-old white kitty with some tabby spots loves people and other cats.

Save-A-Pet is open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays; 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays; and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

Adoption fees are $125 for a kitten, $100 for a cat 1 year old or older, $250 for a puppy up to 7 months old, $150 for a dog 7 months to 7 years old and $125 for a dog older than 7 years.

Save-A-Pet now uses the identifying microchip on all dogs and cats entering the shelter.
