Woman charged for stabbing her infant, then 2 others on city bus

A 29-year-old woman has been charged with attempted murder and four counts of felony aggravated battery after allegedly stabbing her own 11-month-old girl before boarding a city bus and stabbing another woman and her 3-year-old daughter.

Police say Nancy F. Laroche stabbed her daughter about 7 a.m. Wednesday and left her at a residence on Chicago's South Side. Then she got on a Chicago Transit Authority bus and allegedly stabbed a 27-year-old woman and her 3-year-old.

Chicago police spokesman Marcel Bright said Wednesday all three victims were in stable condition when they were taken to area hospitals.

Authorities have not revealed the woman's motive for the attacks. She used a "cutting instrument" in the attacks, but said they did now know exactly what it was.
