Two sentenced for attack
A pair of Rolling Meadows teenagers admitted Wednesday to attacking a group of revelers in a Cook County forest preserve in September. Alejandro Rosario and Marco Silva, both now 19, pleaded guilty to a charge of misdemeanor battery, Assistant State's Attorney Lynn Palac said. Silva was sentenced to two years of probation and credited for the days he's already spent in Cook County jail; Rosario, who had been in jail since his arrest, was released and credited for the time he served. The two originally had faced charges of mob action and aggravated battery stemming from the Sept. 2 attack, which authorities said left their victims hospitalized. Prosecutors have said it began when Silva and Rosario flashed gang signs at a group gathered to celebrate a baptism at Ned Brown Meadow, part of Busse Woods Forest Preserve. The incident grew into a physical altercation. Prosecutors said Rosario had a knife and Silva was armed with a baseball bat.
