Police: Round Lake Beach man's death may not have been accidental

The death of a 29-year-old Round Lake Beach man who was struck by a car Tuesday night may not have been an accident, police said.

Deputy Police Chief Rich Chiarello said Wednesday police have located several witnesses and the car they believe struck Brian Boatright.

Boatright, of the 400 block of Meadow Green Lane, was killed about 6:15 p.m. when he was struck by a car that Chiarello called a white station wagon.

Investigators from the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team and Lake County Major Crimes Task Force are working on the investigation.

"Right now, we are re-interviewing witnesses and looking at evidence taken from the car," Chiarello said. "We believe we know what happened. We are attempting to get a better understanding of the rationale behind it."

Chiarello said investigators were hopeful they would have more details to release later today.
