Play selected for festival: Mundelein High School Theatre's production of "Dancing at Lughnasa" has been selected to be performed at the Illinois High School Theatre Festival. The festival is the largest and oldest non-competitive high school theater festival in the world.
The three-day event, which takes place every year in early January, will be held this year at Illinois State University. Each year, more than 4,000 students, teachers, university representatives, exhibitors and volunteers come together for three days to put on more than 25 different high school productions and more than 150 workshops.
Numerous schools from throughout the state apply to bring their shows to the festival. MHS was one of only 11 full-length productions to be selected to perform.
MHS theater director Jonathan Meier will also be acting in a piece being presented by several teachers from throughout the state of Illinois.
Students go to conference: Three Mundelein High School students have been selected to take part in the Illinois Music Educators' All-State Conference, Jan. 30 through Feb. 2.
Representing MHS will be senior Sarah Whitaker, trumpet player in the orchestra; junior Madeline Martini, alto II in the choir; and junior Ryan Diefenderfer, who will be part of the Future Music Educators' Seminar.
