January storm blamed for eastern Illinois man's death

PAXTON -- Authorities say flooding from this week's storms is responsible for at least one death in Illinois.

The Ford County coroner says 24-year-old Bradley Swan died Tuesday morning at a Gibson City hospital.

Rescuers pulled the Paxton man from a submerged vehicle in far eastern Illinois after it was swept from a road into a flooded field.

Paxton is about 25 miles north of Champaign and received more than 3.5 inches of rain during the storms earlier this week.

Also Tuesday, a Pontiac woman fell into the rain-swollen Vermilion River and was swept for less than a mile before being rescued and taken to a hospital.
