Support service contraception bill
In 2002, the Department of Defense initially added emergency contraception to its Basic Care Formulary, a list of over 200 medications required to be stocked at all military treatment facilities.
The Bush administration removed it weeks later.
Last year alone, nearly 3,000 military women reported sexual assault while on active duty. Now, it is sporadically offered to servicewomen overseas.
These women rely exclusively on military facilities for all their health care needs. They are being restricted and denied access to emergency contraception and left in the lurch following sexual attacks.
Write to Congress and support The Compassionate Care for Servicewomen Act sponsored by Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton a Democrat from New York and Representative Michael Michaud a Democrat from Maine. This will enable servicewomen at all U.S. military health care facilities full access to emergency contraception.
