Dog training offers tips Wednesday
Jennie Kang, a certified pet dog trainer at Anderson Animal Shelter, will host a lecture titled "The Theory Behind Training" from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, in conjunction with its Quarterly Adult Lecture Series.
Kang will explain the theories behind dog training, as well as different methods of training, including positive and negative reinforcement, positive and negative punishment and interval training. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions about training methods and theories.

The Anderson Animal Shelter Lecture Series is an educational program intended to provide the community with relevant information about pet care, animal welfare, and animal programs. All lectures will be held in the shelter auditorium.

Oak Crest hosts monthly book sale
Oak Crest Residence and Atrium Apartments invites the community to attend their monthly book sale from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in the Atrium, 204 S. State St. in Elgin.
The book sale consists of over a thousand titles of gently used books for your reading enjoyment, VHS movies and CDs. Hardbacks are $1, and paperbacks are 50 cents.

Lions learn about Ziegler's business
The Elgin Lions Club will have its dinner monthly meeting on Tuesday at the Elgin Holiday Inn, 495 Airport Road.
