Haydar's hat trick helps Wolves sink Admirals

The Chicago Wolves used a hat trick from right wing Darren Haydar to maintain a 1-goal advantage through two periods and stay afloat for a 6-3 victory over the Milwaukee Admirals at the Bradley Center on Saturday night.

Haydar's third goal held up to be the game-winner. At 3:03 of the third period, defenseman Joel Kwiatkowski took a pass from center Jason Krog and threw a shot on net. As Milwaukee goalie Pekka Rinne scrambled to gain control of the puck, Haydar slid in behind him and tapped it over the line to complete his hat trick.

It was the third 3-goal performance of Haydar's professional career and his first as a member of the Wolves. The reigning American Hockey League MVP, Haydar has 17 points in just nine games with the Wolves (25-9-1-0) this season after appearing in 16 NHL games with the Atlanta Thrashers.

Krog contributed 3 assists, while center Steve Martins added 2 goals and left wing Brett Sterling also chipped in a 2-point performance to help the Wolves to victory.

Milwaukee (18-6-1-1) broke a scoreless tie early in the second period when center Matt Ellison cashed in on an Admirals power-play opportunity.

Haydar used a Wolves power play to even the score at 1-1 when he uncorked a blast from the point that flew through traffic in front of the net and beat Rinne at 11:47 of the second period.

Martins locked up the game with 2 third-period goals. His first goal was unassisted and the second was an empty-netter.
