Fair Tax would put citizens in control
The current federal tax system is broken.
It cannot be fixed. Since the inception of the federal income tax with the passage of the 16th Amendment in 1913, federal corruption and control have turned it into a monster that torments the people and serves special interests.
A tax on a person's income is a tax on production. Ronald Reagan once said, "Whatever you tax, you get less of."
The Fair Tax would replace all federal income taxes. No more federal withholding, Social Security withholding, or Medicare withholding. No more deductions from the paychecks of American workers before they even see it and then pretending to give them a refund, without interest, at the end of the year.
No more paying tax professionals to do taxes. No more IRS audits. No more IRS.
The Fair Tax would put us in control. The Fair Tax would be a progressive tax on consumption (national retail sales tax) on all new goods and services. By allowing us to determine what we buy and when we buy it, the ability of our legislators to manipulate our behavior is eliminated. They can't control the public's spending habits under such a system. That is why the elites don't like it.
To ensure no American pays tax on necessities, the Fair Tax provides a monthly rebate for every registered household to cover the consumption tax spent on necessities up to the federal poverty level. This, along with several other features, is how the Fair Tax completely untaxes the poor, lowers the tax burden on most while making the overall rate progressive.
Call Sens. Richard Durbin and Barack Obama and demand that they co-sponsor The Fair Tax Act.
