La Raza de Monterrey 14, Chicago Storm 14
La Raza de Monterrey's Victor Negrete tallied a goal with 50 seconds remaining to down the Chicago Storm 16-14 in Major Indoor Soccer League play Friday night at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates.
Despite the loss, the Storm (8-4) remains tied for first place in the MISL standings.
Before the match, the Storm's developmental team, Tormenta de Chicago, defeated Chicago Latin American Soccer Association, 12-4.
The Storm's Mariano Bollella, a former player for the World Indoor Soccer League's La Raza de Monterrey squad, netted two 2-point goals against the MISL expansion team. In the third quarter, Stephen Armstrong and Ian Bennett placed back-to-back 3-point goals to give the Storm a 12-8 lead. But Monterrey (5-8) responded with three straight 2-pointers.
The Storm's Fabinho notched a 2-point goal at the 7:45 mark of the fourth quarter to tie the score at 14-14, then Negrete dealt a dagger with 50 seconds remaining.
