District 89 a great school system

There are many reasons to be proud to live in Glen Ellyn.

We have an amazing children's chorus, a village that cares for its citizens and neighbors that look out for each other.

But one of the things that I am most proud, is our school district.

My wife and I are the parents of two Community Consolidated School District 89 students. School District 89 is the K-8 school district that encompasses the south end of Glen Ellyn, as well as sections of Lombard and Wheaton. We are citizens of District 89 that includes Park View Elementary, Arbor View Elementary, Briar Glen Elementary, Westfield Elementary and Glen Crest Middle School.

My family is proud to say that WE ARE DISTRICT 89! Just recently I received the district's Annual Report that explained how our schools are doing in its three imperatives for improvement -- high levels of student achievement, high levels of satisfaction and effective use of resources. Our students score in the top 5 percent of all Illinois schools on the state's standardized tests!

Survey results show that over 85 percent of parents have an overall positive view of District 89. And our district has done an outstanding job of being conservative managers of our tax dollars.

There is little more that we can ask for as citizens. We should all be proud of the students, teachers, administrators, parent volunteers and all those who work hard to give our children a world-class education!

WE ARE DISTRICT 89!
