Pay attention to jobs leaving state
This information was printed on Dec. 4 and titled -- "Area layoffs mainly hit plant workers" -- I had to save the information and comment on it. Lost jobs in our suburban area was the real message.
This exodus of our business community and the jobs lost by your friends and neighbors has been going on for years now. The article noted that, Johnson & Johnson in Elk Grove Village is cutting 64 jobs. Dynaflex of Addison is closing and cutting 75 jobs. Abbott Laboratories, North Chicago, is cutting 101 jobs. Krack Corp. a subsidiary of Ingersoll Rand, is moving its operations from Addison to Mexico, eliminating 177 jobs in DuPage County.
Our legislature continues to look for ways to draw additional funds from businesses with extra taxation, adding to this exodus! There are some in our community that actually promote investing in offshore companies to further the expansion and success of companies that manufacture products in China, etc.
Of all the things that must be considered when enacting new legislation, why have we not noticed that so often, actions of our legislature have a negative effect on our business community? The very group that supplies much of the funds for our spending comes from our business community -- large and small.
Any successful "long term relationship" is nurtured by individual or company, with each helping the other, marriage, sports, business, etc. When I succeed, you do also! Yet, so often, it seems that those in Springfield and yes Washington do not understand that principle! Why is that?
Businesses are running away -- are there no real specialists in this category? There should be. We have been living with this exodus of jobs for far to long!
The problem is spending -- control that and you will find yourselves ahead of the game!
Now you have a chance to make some corrections. There are elections coming up in February and March. Look at the candidates very closely. We already have more than enough legislators -- Springfield and Washington -- that are working to ship your job offshore.
The job you save may just be yours!
