Restring or replace faulty blinds

Q. I have a set of blinds that isn't working properly. The cord to pull the blinds up is always getting stuck, and I have to climb up on a chair and pull the cord from the very top to get it to work. Can this be fixed?

A. If these are otherwise good quality blinds that you don't want to replace, you blinds can be professionally restrung. It sounds as if there is a frayed line in the blinds that needs to be repaired. If you continue to struggle with the blinds, they may fall off the wall and injure you, or the blinds will break to the point where they are beyond fixing. Your best bet is to get the blinds restrung, or replace them.
