Voters should look for the union label

How influential is the Union of Operating Engineers Local 150 on the McHenry County Republican Party? Republican voters in the upcoming primary election should be aware.

Outgoing Republican Chairman Bill Lefew appointed several union members as precinct committeemen in Nunda Township, who then promptly ousted the township chairman.

Lefew also appointed a Union 150 member to be treasurer of the county executive board. The appointee was not even elected as a precinct committeeman. This same individual is a key player in the campaign of Dan Regna.

The Operating Engineers Union has contributed to Democrats over Republicans at a rate of three to one. Unions are an important and integral part of American business and labor.

Politically, however, Republican voters should be cautious and careful with Republican Party members and candidates who align themselves with organizations that lean heavily Democratic.
