St. Charles cops seek two in gas station hold-up

St. Charles police were searching for two young men in connection with a gas station hold-up.

Shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday, the men entered St. Charles Mobil, 1023 W. Main St., and threatened a clerk with a chrome handgun. They fled west on foot after stealing several packs of cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

No shots were fired, and one was hurt. Police said no customers were present at the time of the robbery.

The suspects were each described as being between 20 and 30 years old, standing about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and having average builds.

"One went in with the gun, the other went around and grabbed the cash and cigarettes," Cmdr. David Kintz said.

The gunman wore a black handkerchief over his face, a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black shoes and a red hat. The other suspect wore a beige hooded jacket with writing printed on the front, beige pants and black shoes.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call investigators at (630) 377-4435.
