Greetings from Beverly Hills
Purchased my first souvenir of this trip on Monday: A $10 map of Movie Stars' Homes.
Teaming up with two other reporters -- let's refer to them as "Stu" and "Courtney" -- we drove around the Hollywood Hills looking for famous people and important news.
After briefly contemplating some stalking of Bruce Springsteen ("Stu") and George Clooney ("Courtney"), we settled on searching for one famous house.
The Playboy Mansion.
As it turns out, Illinois alum Hugh Hefner's digs are just 2.7 miles from the football team's hotel, which makes it even harder to believe they turned down an offer to visit the Mansion.
I'd like to report we saw some salacious goings-on at 10236 Charing Cross Road, but that would be a lie. By the time we found it, it was too dark to make heads or, um, tails of the place.
We spent Monday's final minutes of daylight in Malibu -- specifically the Pepperdine campus located high in the hills above the Pacific Ocean.
Note to my daughters (or any future selves should I come back again): Do whatever it takes to go to Pepperdine. Or UCLA.
How do those schools not have the greatest recruiting classes in every sport every year?
