Briefs: Middleby finishes buyout of New Star

ELGIN -- The Middleby Corp. on Monday announced the completion of its acquisition of New Star Holdings Inc., in a deal valued at $188.4 million in cash. New Star Holdings is comprised of three industry leading brands in the commercial foodservice equipment industry, including Star, Holman, and Lang. New Star, which sells to the convenience store market, has annual revenues of about $100 million.

Beam Global hires past president

DEERFIELD -- Beam Global Spirits & Wine Inc., a unit of Fortune Brands Inc., on Monday announced Bill Newlands will rejoin the Deerfield-based company to serve in a newly created role as senior vice president, U.S. commercial development. Newlands is a past president of Beam Wine Estates.
