Holiday Hours: The library will be closed today and Tuesday.
Sicko: Michael Moore's new documentary, "Sicko," an investigation of the American health-care system, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
This film is rated "PG-13" and runs 130 minutes. Registration is not required.
Adult Winter Reading Club: "Warm up with a Good Book" by participating in the library's adult winter reading program which runs from Wednesday to March 2.
Read or listen to five books and be eligible for prizes. To enter, pick up a reading log at the Public Services desk, first floor, beginning Wednesday. In keeping with the program's theme, each person who signs up will receive a Fremont Library mug with a packet of hot chocolate.
Participants may also submit brief reviews of their titles. For more information, stop by the Public Services desk or call the library.
The adult reading program coincides with a winter reading program for seventh- to 12th-graders. For details about the program for schoolchildren, stop by the Youth Services desk, first floor, or call (847) 918-3218.
ESL Classes: A new session of English as a Second Language classes will start at the library on Jan. 8. Held in conjunction with Mundelein High School, the classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to noon in the meeting rooms on the second floor. To register, contact an instructor at the time of class. The class schedule follows the high school calendar.
Susan Salidor in concert: Patrons may register online, in person, or by phone for the Fremont Public Library Sunday Concert Series featuring Susan Salidor at 2 p.m. on Jan. 20. This family program is open to all ages; children younger than 8 must be accompanied by an adult.
Susan Salidor is an award-winning children's music composer, singer, and teacher. Her recordings have won the Parents' Choice Award, the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Award, a NAPPA Award, and an iParenting Media Award.
Book discussions: The following upcoming book discussions have been scheduled:
• The BookMarkers book club will discuss "The Accidental Tourist" by Anne Tyler at 7 p.m. Jan. 22. This monthly book discussion is held the fourth Tuesday of each month (except December). Copies of the book will be available about a month before the discussion date.
• The Senior Connections book meets the second Friday of each month and is held at the Mundelein Senior Center, 1200 Regent Dr., Mundelein. Copies of the books are available at the library a month before the discussion date.
Citizenship classes: The library will hold citizenship classes in conjunction with Mundelein High School beginning Jan. 28. Registration will be held at the library beginning at 9 a.m. on Jan. 23.
Classes are in English and will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. To qualify for citizenship one must be at least 18 years of age, have resided legally in the United States for at least five years, and be able to read, write and speak basic English.

Writing Group: The library's writing group meets the last Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. This is an informal setting where writers discuss their craft. Drops in are welcome.
Motorola Math Tutors: From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays from now through the winter break, volunteers from the Motorola Asian Business Council will be on hand at Fremont Public Library, 1170 N. Midlothian Road, Mundelein, to offer one-on-one math homework help to students.
The tutors will be available in the library's Youth Services Department study rooms on the first floor. Students should bring their textbooks and a calculator, if needed. The tutoring service is free, and tutors will see students on a first-come, first-served basis, so no reservations are needed.

New Database: The library now has access to Ancestry.com for genealogical research. At this time, the database can only be used within the library. Ancestry.com is a subscription-based genealogy research Web site with more than five billion records online and more being added almost daily. An introduction to this new database will be offered in November.
Online Registration: Patrons can register online for fall story program sessions and all other programs at Fremont Public Library. Patrons can go to freemontlibrary.org and select "Youth," then "calendar." Patrons may also register for Youth Services programs by calling (847) 918-3218 or by stopping at the Youth Services desk.
E-mail notification: Patrons wanting to be notified by e-mail when reserve items are available and when library materials are due may sign up for e-mail notification through the Web site. On the site, patrons can go to "my account," then "register my e-mail address" and enter their e-mail addresses with the password "patron." Reserve items will be held for seven days from the date of the e-mail. Pre-overdue reminders are sent three days before items are due.
