Gordon coming off bench part of new start for Bulls

Good decision to move Gordon

I think Ben Gordon should come off the bench. He only gives you 18 to 25 points a game, and he can still give you that off the bench.

What Gordon lacks is defense, and that puts a lot of pressure on Kirk Hinrich. Kirk should be at point guard and not defending the hardest guard every night.

The starting lineup should be Hinrich at point, Luol Deng at shooting guard, Ben Wallace at power foward, Tyrus Thomas at small forward and Joakim Noah at center. …

I think John Paxson took the easy and cheap way out. This Bulls team needs a fresh start, with a new coach. They need a coach who knows all angles on every position on the court. … I don't think Scott Skiles' right-hand man, Jim Boylan, can do any better. They need a coach who can coach young big men and the guard position.

It was a no-brainer

Yes, having Ben Gordon as the sixth man is the right thing to do. He's consistently done better in that role.

Bulls have no room for any more errors

In regard to Jim Boylan as the new interim coach, I truly believe if the team starts to pick things up by playing with much more intensity and receives better outcomes at the end of games, then it is obvious the choice to fire Scott Skiles was the better move.

There's always a but, though. Considering we're more than five games under .500, there is hardly room for error.

I still see management making more changes. This is only the beginning.

Paxson needs to go

The Bulls got rid of the wrong guy.

Under Scott Skiles, many players came to the game not knowing when or if they were going to play. Skiles did a poor job of identifying and establishing roles for his bench players.

John Paxson, with his holier-than-thou attitude, has let some very talented players leave the Bulls with little or no compensation (Tyson Chandler, Tim Thomas, J.R. Smith).

Sixth-man issue not the problem

I really do not feel that the problem is with the sixth man. I think it is with the way that some of our players are playing.

Ben Wallace is not playing up to his standards and that needs to be addressed.

I hope that when he makes this move that it will benefit the team and not the player. I have seen how Andres Nocioni has been playing, and I would prefer to have him come off the bench as the sixth man instead of Ben Gordon. …

My starting five would be: Ben Gordon, Kirk Hinrich, Ben Wallace, Andres Nocioni and Luol Deng. Nocioni is a better post player than Joe Smith, and he is consistent and hard-working.

Bears' Brown deserved to keep his position

Alex Brown should not have lost his starting position. Mark Anderson was a situational player last year and succeeded at that, and Brown had done nothing to lose his starting job. Brown is a better run stopper and Anderson is a better pass rusher. There should be open competition for the job next year and the player who loses out should be traded.

Brown best option to help Bears' 'D'

I see Alex Brown as an all-around player who plays the run, sheds blocks, and always is in position.

He is a massive defensive end to block and keep out of the backfield, and he's a playmaker. … Mark Anderson is a speed rusher, an athlete who can play the run, but seems best as a situational pass rusher in the Bears' scheme (2006).

In 2007, one thing plagued the Bears' D: big plays. Everyone who knows the Bears' defensive system knows you have to be in your gaps. Mark Anderson is best when full speed after the quarterback. This means he doesn't hold a block (he's undersized for a DE), he's in attack mode, which results in being pushed past the quarterback and out of the play, leaving the right side open.

In 2007, the defense was caught out of position often, on sweeps, screens and draw plays. I have to believe that some of that would have been secured by Brown.
