Where's Pentagon's support for troops?

We have all read about how well our government is handling our involvement in Iraq -- specifically regarding our soldiers and Marines.

They were sent there ill equipped. The conditions at Walter Reed Hospital are despicable and still are. The bodies of our dead heroes being treated like cargo and placed in airport hangars for loved ones to claim them.

Here's the latest, folks. To get young people to sign up, the military was giving enlistment bonuses from $10,000 to $30,000. Thousands of service personnel who were wounded and unable to complete their tour of duty are being asked to pay back their bonuses. By the U.S. Military.

It's not bad enough that many men and women have lost arms, legs, their eyesight or hearing, now they must reimburse Uncle Sam on top of it. Well, I guess, if you didn't fulfill your end of the contract because you had the misfortune to get seriously wounded, you owe Uncle Sam. That's the deal.

The government has resorted to having collection agencies hound our heroes for their pound of flesh.

The way this absurd war is being conducted makes me ashamed to be an American. No wonder so many other countries hate us -- we are doing nothing to improve our image.
