Candle sparks Batavia house fire
A candle sparked a small fire Friday in a Batavia retirement home, authorities said.
The fire was reported about 7:31 p.m. at The Holmstad campus, at 700 W. Fabyan Parkway, according to the Batavia fire department.
An unattended candle left burning too close to holiday decorations started the fire, which had been extinguished when firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported.
The fire caused about $275 damage, firefighters said.
