Anderson 9 Lives Club matches senior people, cats
The 9 Lives Club at Anderson Animal Shelter in South Elgin has been created to help senior cats find forever homes and to help senior citizens find a new friend.
All cats in the 9 Lives Club are age 7 or older, and can be adopted by senior citizens for free after qualifying through the typical adoption process.
Cats in the 9 Lives Club can be adopted by people, age 64 and younger, for a reduced adoption fee of $50.
The typical adoption fee for cats ages 6 and under is $155. Included in all adoptions is spaying or neutering of the animal, tests for feline immuno-deficiency virus and feline leukemia virus, the necessary vaccines and shots, and a microchip to identify the cat if it should get lost.
Anderson Animal Shelter is at 1000 S. LaFox Road (Route 31) in South Elgin. The shelter is open for adoptions from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays; 2 to 8 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays; and noon to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays. All adoptions and showings end 30 minutes prior to closing each day. Animals available for adoption can be viewed at www. andersonanimalshelter.org.
