Sign up now for Elgin volleyball

Open registration for the Elgin Parks and Recreation Department's Adult Volleyball Leagues is now under way. Co-rec competitive and recreational leagues will be held on Tuesday nights. All games are held at The Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way.

The league fee is $430 per team and is based on a minimum of ten games.

Additional fees include a $50 forfeit fee (paid by credit card) and non-resident fees.

The registration deadline is Jan. 11. Registration for the adult volleyball leagues will be taken at The Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.

Huntley Knights host competition

All boys and girls, age 10 to 14, are invited to participate in St. Mary of Huntley Knights of Columbus Council 11666 local level of competition for the 2008 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship. The local competition will be held at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 12 at the Huntley High School gym, 13719 Harmony Road, Huntley. The contest is sponsored annually, with the winners progressing through local, district and state competitions.

International champions are announced by the K of C International Headquarters based on scores from the state-level competitions.

All boys and girls ages 10 to 14 are eligible to participate and will compete in their respective age divisions.
