Government is thinking small
I think that it is ridiculous to depend on the taxes from cigarettes and liquor, or even the revenue that can be gained from gambling, to pay for our roads, schools and other infrastructure.
No, that is thinking too small. We obviously are not getting enough monies from these sources.
We should branch out into more lucrative venues, such as prostitution and the drug trade. I mean, if we are banking on the sins of society, why limit ourselves to the ones that we deem legal? What is legal anyway? It's just a decision that a random group of legislators at one time or another agreed should be "legal".
Why stop at lung cancer, cirrhosis of the liver, alcoholism or crippling debt of the masses to pay the state bill? Let's profit on addiction, STD's and let's not forget about the death of them or the unborn.
Why should we practice fiscal responsibility when we can bankroll our future on the vices of the masses?
