Motorist taken to hospital after I-88 crash
A two-vehicle collision this morning on westbound I-88 slowed early-bird traffic for about 30 minutes, police said.
The crash happened about 8 a.m. just east of Meyers Road in Oak Brook when a semi-tractor truck struck a 2003 Toyota Camry, causing the car to spin out across the lanes.
Illinois State Police District 15 Master Sgt. Carlita Joe said the Camry hit a median and then struck the rear of the truck.
Ceasar Ruiz, 19, of Chicago, the driver of the Camry, suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the crash, police said. Ruiz was taken to a local hospital.
No other injuries were reported.
Ruiz and the truck driver, Stanley Scales, 49, of Bellwood, both were cited for improper lane usage, officials said.
