Second man charged in death of police officer's son

A 23-year-old Chicago man has been extradited from Michigan and charged in the shooting death of a police officer's son.

Chicago police say Darius Walton was charged Monday with first-degree murder in the October Sixth shooting of Ronald Heard Junior.

Police say Walton was extradited from Michigan after being arrested there last month.

Heard was shot multiple times at a White Castle drive-through at 69th Street and Western Avenue. Police say he was trying to defend a woman who was being attacked, allegedly by the gunman.

Eighteen-year-old Rashad Johnson has already been charged in Heard's death. His bond has been set at $500,000.

Walton's first court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday at Cook County Criminal Court.
