Chicago man shot outside downstate bar
Illinois State Police say a Chicago man is hospitalized after being shot by officers outside a tavern in the southern Illinois town of Mounds. State police say officers dispatched early Friday to a reported disturbance outside a Mounds tavern saw the 35-year-old man fire a handgun into the ground. The man also reportedly pointed the weapon at police and a crowd outside the bar. Police apparently told the man to drop the weapon, but he ran and continued turning to point the gun at the officers. That's when police shot and wounded him. State police did not reveal the severity of the man's injuries.
