Bush right about Iranian threat
More Bush-bashing made the news, slamming the president for stating the obvious: Iran is dangerous.
Anyone can see that Iran's leader, Ahmadinejad, is clearly a threat to western civilization, as evident by his denying the Holocaust ever occurred and recent comments advocating Israel to be "wiped off the map." He has repeatedly aligned himself with the extreme wing of Islam, runs his military as a terrorist organization, and shares their convert-or-die mantra.
However, Iran's president has been again emboldened by a suspect NIE report that states there is "no evidence" of Iran pursuing nuclear ambitions. As usual, Bush critics use every report they can twist into their favor to criticize him. News articles highlighted disparaging comments by Illinois Democratic Rep. Rahm Emanuel , chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, who said "We've been operating out of hype and fear" in reference not only to the war in Iraq, but also the current Iran report. Ironic how Al Gore can get away unscathed using the same tactics when arguing his case for global warming, huh?
I remember shortly after 9/11, everyone asked, "What did we know? And when did we know it? And why couldn't we stop it?" America needs to put these politics on the back burner when matters of national security, like Iran's nuclear ambitions, arise. While polls show most Americans are unsatisfied with a Republican president, they also show that even more Americans are unhappy with the Democratic Congress. But I'm certain no American, Republican or Democrat, wants to ask or have to answer those post-9/11 questions again in the near future because they ignored the warning signs in Iran right now for political expediency.
But then again, I'm sure some will just accuse me of "operating out of hype and fear", right?
