Registration for fall classes is ongoing. The following is a sampling of classes being offered:

Hapkido/Tae Kwon Do: Starting Jan. 7 at the Lake Zurich Family Martial Arts Academy, 215 S. Rand Road, youths age 5 through adult can experience the benefits of Tae Kwon Do. Children improve motor skills, learn how to follow directions, feel good about themselves and learn to "listen the first time." Adults will enjoy increasing their stamina, coordination, agility and overall fitness. Times and days vary, so call to see which class fits your schedule.

Tai Chi Chuan: Classes are offered Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings at the Barn in Paulus Park. Tai Chi is a form of moving meditation that seeks to stimulate the body's systems and organs to achieve a natural balance, helping to improve low backache, stiff joints, hypertension, poor circulation poor posture and stress. Each form is taught individually and the students learn at their own pace. Classes start on Jan. 8.

Fantastic Fridays: Month-long themed classes For 3- or 4-year-olds, from 9 to 11 a.m. Fridays starting Jan. 11 at Buffalo Creek, 675 Old Mill Grove Road. January classes will center on winter snow themes complete with stories and crafts.

It's Magic: Children age 5-12 can learn tricks from a professional magician from 4-4:55 p.m. Jan. 17. All materials are provided and each child receives a magic kit to take home. Children are grouped by age and learn tricks that are age-appropriate.

Mark Miller Sport Classes: Starting Jan. 19, parents and their children age 3-5 can learn the fundamentals of football and soccer. Hand-eye coordination skills and fun games are offered as families get to spend quality time learning a new sport. Children age 4-8 have the opportunity to learn the basic concepts of soccer and football with additional classes. The soccer program will cover rules, shooting/passing and dribbling. Football will include rules, catching/throwing and flag pulling. Teamwork and sportsmanship are emphasized.

Fitness Classes: A variety of classes are offered from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. or 6:40 to 7:40 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A Monday Cardio Circuit class is held from 7 to 8 p.m. Fit By Choice Passports are available in denominations of 6-, 12-, 24- or 36-punch cards allowing the participant to attend any class that meets their schedule. All classes are held at Buffalo Creek, 675 Old Mill Grove Road.
