War will leave Iraq a much better place
We have been at war with Saddam Hussein for 16 years with U.N. approval and our Congress because he invaded Kuwait and would have gone into Saudi Arabia for complete control of all Mid-Eastern oil which, if allowed, would have destroyed our economy and our way of life.
After the Gulf War, we flew observation flights over Iraq for eight years while U.N. inspectors searched for weapons.
When he shot down some of our planes, we got approval from the U.N. and our Congress to change the regime. We deposed Saddam and his sons and brought about elections and established a new government including Kurds and Shiites that Saddam had mistreated for years.
We have trained a new Iraq military and police for a new and fair Iraq. We will soon leave and that part of the world will be a better place.
