Strength, Core and Stability: This workout, for all fitness levels, combines traditional strength training through the use of dumbbells, weighted bars, or your own body weight with specific core training. This combination will promote overall body toning and "center" strength. Check this class out if you are looking for muscle conditioning, stronger able and stronger lower back. This fitness class for 14 and older begins Wednesday, Dec. 26 and ends Feb. 13. Strength, Core & Stability will be held in the North Room of the municipal annex from 7 to 8 p.m. It costs $40 for residents and $45 for nonresidents. Registration deadline is Dec. 19.
Tiny Tunes: This is a carefully balanced music program that offers a creative and exciting way for the preschool child to develop and become part of the magical world of music. Concepts of music will be taught through rhythm instruments, singing, musical games and literature that consists of traditional children's songs, classical music, and music from a variety of cultures. Beginning instructions on how to play the piano using an electronic keyboard will be part of every class session. This six-week class for 3- to 6-year-olds begins Wednesday, Jan. 2 and concludes Feb. 6. Tiny Tunes will be held in the East Room of the municipal annex from 6:20 to 7 p.m. It costs $39 for residents and $42 for nonresidents. Registration deadline is Dec. 27.
Toddlers N' Action: Music, tumbling, and a lot of action! This class for toddlers will keep them interested and engaged. They will have a blast while playing with rhythm instruments, bubbles, tunnels, balance beams, bean bags, parachutes and more. This six-week class has two different sessions for kids, 18 months to 3 years along with their parents. It begins on either Friday, Jan. 4 or Saturday, Jan. 5. Toddlers N' Action will be held in the North Room of the municipal annex. It costs $39 for residents and $42 for nonresidents. Registration deadline is Dec. 28.
Junior Olympic Pre-Hockey: Pre-hockey is structured to teach your beginner the most important skills needed to compete in hockey. Participants, age 3 to 6, must be able to march on the ice on their own. Four 8-week sessions of pre-hockey begin in January: Tuesday from 5 to 5:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 8; Wednesday from 1:40 to 2:10 p.m. beginning Jan. 9; Thursday from 10:10 to 10:40 a.m. beginning Jan. 10; or Saturday from 9:10 to 9:40 a.m. beginning Jan. 12. So choose the one that works best for you and get out on the ice. All participants must bring their own Hockey Equipment Certification Council approved equipment. It will take place at the Leafs Ice Centre, 801 Wesemann Drive in West Dundee. Junior Olympic Pre Hockey. It costs $84 for residents and $94 for nonresidents. Registration deadline is Dec. 31.
Lil' Tumblers: Does your child enjoy rolling, bear crawls and log rolls? This is just the class for them. Participants will have a great time learning the basics of tumbling with other children their age, so grab your tennis shoes and start tumbling. This weekly class for kids, age 3 to 5, will begin Jan. 8 and will conclude Feb. 5. Lil' Tumblers will be held in the North Room of the municipal annex from 6 to 6:40 p.m. Tuesdays. It costs $32 for residents and $37 for nonresidents. Registration deadline is Jan. 2.
Indoor Soccer Fun: Are you looking for a great program to get those little soccer stars in your house ready for action? This program is great for young, enthusiastic little kickers who have had little or no experience playing soccer. They will cover the basics of dribbling, passing, and scoring. Fee includes T-shirt. This sports program for 3- to 4-year-olds begins Tuesday, Jan. 15 and concludes Feb. 5. Indoor Soccer Fun will be held at Community United Methodist Church in South Elgin from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. It costs $32 for residents and $37 for nonresidents. Registration deadline is Jan. 8.
Winter Break Camp: This will be the best Winter Break Camp ever. There is a trip planned every day and you can register for the whole week or pick your favorite trips and attend just those days. The Dec. 26 trip is Putting Edge, Dec. 27 is Fox Valley Sports Academy, Dec. 28 is Odyssey Fun World, Jan. 2 is Painted Penguin, Jan. 3 is DuPage Children's Museum and Jan. 4 is Waterworks Indoor Water Park. Beginner Karate: This class, taught by the National Karate Schools, will introduce children, for 4- to 7-year-olds, to Karate and Tae Kwon Do using a fun and age appropriate curriculum. Self-discipline, confidence and listening skills are just a few qualities that will be instilled through this class. In addition, class will cover "stranger danger" to help protect children from abduction. This weekly class for kids, age 4 to 7, begins Monday, Jan. 7 and concludes March 10. Beginner Karate for 4- to 7-year-olds will be held in the North Room of the municipal annex from 4:30 to 5 p.m. It costs $69 for residents and for nonresidents. Registration deadline is Dec. 31.

Parent/Child Karate will be held in the North Room of the municipal annex from 5:30 to 6 p.m. It costs $69 per pair for residents. Registration deadline is Dec. 31.

This program is specifically designed to prepare kids for the future by teaching life skills and good work ethic. This weekly class for kids begins Tuesday, Jan. 8 and concludes March 11. Beginner Karate for 8- to 12-year-olds will be held from 5:40 to 6:10 p.m. at South Elgin National Karate School, 1272 Spring St. It costs $69 for residents. Dodge Ball Open Gym: Bring your friends and prepare yourself for some dodgeball fun. Whether it is free for all or tournament style, you are going to have a great time. This program is drop-in. No registration is required. Just show up and be ready to play. This open gym for kids in fourth to sixth grades will be held every Thursday, from Jan. 10 to Feb. 14. Dodge Ball will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. at Fox Meadow Elementary School, 1275 Jenna Drive, South Elgin. It costs $5 per night for residents and $7 per night for nonresidents.
Saturday Morning Science -- Creatures of the Deep: Hands-on science for the entire family! Bring your family and learn about the creatures of the deep. Come ready for some science fun -- no sitting around in this class. Join the other mad scientists to explore and experiment. This science class for kids, age 8 to 12, and their parents will be held Jan. 19. Saturday Morning Science -- Creatures of the Deep will be held in the East room of the municipal annex from 10 to 11:30 a.m. It costs $15 for residents and $25 for nonresidents. Registration deadline is Jan. 11.
