Man admits taking lewd photos, gets 2 years
Gustavo Vazquez already admitted to police he'd stuck his cell phone under a teenage girl's skirt and videotaped the images, prosecutors say.
On Tuesday, he admitted his actions again -- landing himself two years in prison.
Vazquez, 34, of the 400 block of Fifth Court, pleaded guilty to charges of unauthorized videotaping and criminal sexual abuse stemming from the August incident, in which authorities say he followed his 17-year-old victim through the Rolling Meadows Wal-Mart.
"This is reprehensible," Cook County Judge John Scotillo told him, "because it's degrading to women."
Scotillo handed down two two-year sentences -- one for each charge -- but they'll be served at the same time. Vazquez will get credit for time he's already spent in jail.
Prosecutors said the girl Vazquez had targeted felt him bump into her and, at one point, heard the sound of a cell phone camera being used. The girl's mother followed him out of the store, got his license number and then called police, who tracked him down at home.
Vazquez, who authorities say had saved the images on his phone, later told police he was in Wal-Mart just to find a girl to take pictures of, prosecutors said in court Tuesday.
