Kids, belt it out, hoof it at musical theater camp
The Noble Fool Theatricals Performing Arts Academy students are eager to spend their holiday break learning musical theater songs from "Wicked," "Rent," "Godspell" and "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown," with the new three-day Musical Theatre Boot Camp at Pheasant Run Resort, 4051 E. Main St. in St. Charles.
The three-day workshop is open to children at all experience levels between ages 8 and 18.
Students will focus on learning audition techniques for musical theater, with equal emphasis on singing and dancing. Classes will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 26-28, with a showcase on the Studio Stage at 2 p.m. Dec. 28.
The musical instructor is Ken Jones, and the dance instructor is Christy Svoboda.
"This fun-filled three-day workshop is a great opportunity for those interested in exploring musical theater," said Tracy Whiteside, Noble Fool's education coordinator. "It is also perfect for more experienced theater students to refresh and improve their skills in preparation for Noble Fool Theatricals' 'Oliver!' youth ensemble auditions in January."
The Performing Arts Academy opened its doors to classes and youth productions for the community in the fall of 2006, including classes on improvisation, scene-study, and auditions, as well as the critically acclaimed Youth Ensemble program.
The academy features some of the Chicago area's most respected teachers, directors, actors and musicians. Classes are for adults, children and business professionals looking to learn from the people who are working at what they love do.
