Winter performing arts camps: Winter Improv and Acting Camps are being offered by Improv Playhouse from Dec. 26-Jan. 4 at the studios in downtown Libertyville.

These sessions over school break are intended to give young actors an opportunity to participate in performing arts skills that are new or improved upon from regular workshops at Improv Playhouse and other arts organizations.

Improv campers meet from 9 a.m. to noon and will learn and play with new forms of improvisation with a final instructional showcase for parents and friends. Actors in Acting Camp meet from 1 to 4 p.m. and will "design" their session based on immersion in their choice of monologues, scenes, story theater, and vocal performance.

Each half-day camp is $100. Full-day and after-camp care is available for a modest fee. Call Improv Playhouse at (847) 968-4529 or visit www.improvplayhouse.com.

"Godspell Junior": Registration is taking place for the Improv Playhouse RLB Showstoppers (12- to 17-year-old) production of "Godspell Junior." The musical is a unique reflection on the life of Jesus, with a message of kindness, tolerance and love. "Godspell Junior" boasts a string of recognizable songs like international "Day By Day." No auditions are necessary. There is a fee of $295 to take part. Training and rehearsals will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday afternoons and 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays beginning Jan. 13 at the Round Lake Beach Cultural Center. Shows will be March 14 to 17 at the Round Lake Beach Cultural Center main stage.
