So soon everyone seems to forget
Do the residents of Campton Hills remember the reason our new village was formed? Do they think Patsy Smith decided she could feed at the tax trough if she became the mayor of a new town? Did she salivate at the concept of raising taxes on her friends and neighbors?
Or was the village conceived after the failure of the township to halt Elgin Mayor Ed Schock and Elgin's predatory land grab? Think of every farm field around filled with town houses and condos, and the roads filled with your new neighbors' cars.
If residents are worried about new taxes, kill Campton Hills and they won't have village taxes, they'll have four-lane highways replacing the country road in front of your house. They do love road construction, don't they?
Elgin is hungry for new tax revenues. The next sound they hear will be Schock at their door, welcoming them to Elgin. If they hope St. Charles will save them, good luck. It has shown little interest in moving west.
I'm sure the righteous indignation can destroy our new village. I'm also sure we'll rue the doing of it.
